Puppies and Kittens
The adoption of a new puppy or kitten is an exciting time, full of discovery and challenges. These formative first few weeks and months can be challenging with the training and life adjustments needed to fit your new pet into your world. We will help you to understand the nutritional, health and social needs of your young pet.
One of many important topics to cover is vaccination. A nursing puppy or kitten will acquire natural passive immunity to viruses from his/her mother, as long as the mother has been vaccinated against or exposed to the virus. These maternal antibodies puppies and kittens receive will generally keep them protected until they gradually declines around 6-10 weeks of age. After this time, the young animal is no longer protected and requires vaccinations to provide this protection. We will discuss the proper protocol to suit the lifestyle of your pet.
